Mega Pet Adoption Event This Friday & Saturday
Come out to meet Hundreds of Shelter Animals Waiting to be your BFF
It’s no secret that every year, more than fifteen thousand animals find themselves in Toronto shelters. This heartbreaking statistic from the Toronto Humane Society shows us that it is vital to continue promoting adoption as a wonderful way to add a pet to your family.
“Anyone who is considering adding a pet to their family should join us and see for themselves the amazing animals available for adoption” said Barbara Steinhoff, Executive Director, Toronto Humane Society.
Shelter animals can be just as loving and friendly as it any other pet and they should become the go-to option for pet lovers everywhere. Our best friend at Talent Hounds, Kilo the Pug, was a rescue himself and can tell you that rescues really do rock! Same with Fishstick the Pug, star of our new series Backseat Barkers and many others.
This Friday, July 8 to Saturday, July 9, the Toronto Humane Society is hosting a gigantic adopt-a-thon!
This is the third year of the event. Last year was such a huge success that 600 animals were saved and found their forever homes over the course of two days.
“Pet adoption is the core of our mission,” -Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation
How To Adopt A Dog
Sponsored by Bissell Canada and the Bissell Pet Foundation, the event will take place at the Toronto Exhibition Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Building from 10-6. If you are in the area, we suggest showing up to show support for your local shelters and maybe even take home a new best friend.
“Initiatives such as this have a large impact on the homeless animal population in our community.”–Elizabeth Glibbery, Manager, Toronto Animal Services.
Come Say Hi!
We will be stopping by to cuddle and play with some cute furry friends and hope to see you too! This event allows adopters to meet many potential dogs and cats, get to know them and take them home the very same day. We are sure the atmosphere will be heartwarming as so many animals will be given the gift of a happy second chance at life.
The adoption fee for shelter animals at the event will be a lowered rate of just $25, and the Bissell Foundation will be giving away doggie bags of pet essentials for new pet parents. As per the usual Humane Society standards, all pets will come micro chipped, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered.
