These Products Could Help You With Keeping Your Anxious Reactive Dog Calm

Amazing new products to keep your dog calm

Kilo the Pug has been with me for just over 2 years now. He has made huge progress but he still has moments of intense anxiety and reactivity with strangers, dogs and the postman. At the Global Pet Expo this year, there was a cool trend among products with the theme of “Calm”.

These are some of the best products I saw for keeping an anxious and reactive dog like Kilo calm. Let me know in the comments if you saw or know of others.

From Multipet, the makers of Lamb Chop, Come New AromaDogs

Adorable and soft, and they smell amazing to boot!

One of my favourite products at the Global Pet Expo was the lilac AromaDog.  Lamb Chop is one of Kilo’s and his girlfriend Ms. Charmin’s favourite toys.

I was thrilled that Multipet came out with a new product this year. The squeakers are infused with a calming blend of essential oils that soothes separation anxiety and calms hyperactivity. Not to mention its incredibly soft and completely adorable. I confess, I slept with Kilo’s during the Expo and loved the scent.

CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System

Petmate debuted CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System for dogs combining high-tech innovation with acupressure in a revolutionary new non-invasive, drug-free treatment that soothes common anxiety that often arises as a result of thunderstorms, fireworks, encounters with strangers, travel, separation, and loud noises.

  • This innovative system features an adjustable Comfort Fit Vest that holds the Calmz device over specific acupressure points on your dog’s spine. When the device is activated, the clinically proven NeuroSync™ Technology takes over. NeuroSync Technology combines a therapeutic medley of classical music and a specially calibrated tone to create a vibration. This multi-faceted approach eases anxiety in a completely new way.
    • The system employs vestibular (audible) and peripheral sensory (tactile) stimulations to achieve test-proven anxiety relief in dogs
    • Vestibular stimulation is the result of a low-frequency C-note tone that is blended with a modified version of the classical piece, Beethoven’s Für Elise
    • Peripheral sensory stimulation comes from the massaging sensation generated from the device when placed on acupressure calming points along the spine

Earth Heart’s Canine Calm

canine calm aromatherapy wipes

I stopped by at Katie’s Pet Products after seeing my friend Gina use these wipes on her dog Oz. He appeared to visibly relax in front of me. I had to get some to try on Kilo. The Canine Calm Aromatherapy Wipes are for soothing your dog during non-routine activities like during thunderstorms, fireworks, vet visits, grooming or any other activity that makes your dog anxious. Simply use the wipes to gently massage your dog’s outer ear flaps and let the relaxing scent work its magic. You can also use the wipes on your dog’s bedding or yourself for additional benefits.

“Aromatherapy has been used for centuries, and scientific studies on the effects of essential oils with dogs and horses were well-established by the mid-1880s in areas of Europe. We formulate our products with 100 percent pure essential oils that are developed by an aromatherapist with 25-years of experience to ensure a safe and easy-to-use product for all canine owners.” -” Vicki Rae Thorne, founder of Earth Heart Inc.

Another one of our favourite brands Fou Fou has come out with this new Calm Pet Balm. Made up of a combination of natural calming ingredients including chamomile, passionflower and herbal oils and essences, this pet balm can help calm your pet during stressful times such as travel, thunderstorms or any stressful time in your pet’s life. Suitable for dogs and cats, this balm can be massaged into your pet’s paws or their neck and back area for its calming effects. Love this and some of their other new products for our Backseat Barkers travel series and Fou Fou are based in Canada too.
