Hot Diggity- Super Pet Expo in Edison NJ was a fun-filled family event with great entertainment and vendors selling all kinds of cool products (I bought a new pet hair remover).
My first visit was with the renowned expert Dawn Wolfe, from Pawsitively Famous Dog Training, She very kindly let me leave my heavy suitcase at her booth and could not have been friendlier. For many years, Dawn has been involved in casting and training animals for TV and movies, and acting as a talent coordinator. She also conducts workshops and auditions for aspiring animal actors throughout the U.S.
However her most recent exciting venture is with Nerium International skin care products and her beautiful smooth skin is a great testament. I certainly plan to follow up.
Next, I was so pleased to meet Babette Haggerty, an accomplished author, speaker, trainer, and champion in her craft. I had been following her online – she is even better in person!
Lovely Babette has been voted “Palm Beach’s Favourite Dog Trainer” and her school billed as ” The Miss Porter’s of Dogs”! She has helped develop shelter dog training programs for volunteers and staff, bred Champion Belgian Malinois, assisted in the training of the first Australian Shepherd used for Guide Dog work, been a frequent keynote speaker and written the critically acclaimed book “Woman’s Best Friend: Choosing and Training the Dog that is Right for You”, and now her newest book, “The Best Dog Tricks On The Planet” I was lucky enough to snag a copy and am loving it.
Babette and Dawn did a very cool presentation on Getting your dog into Show Business. They showed off the type of training and tricks needed for commercials, TV and films which may surprise you. Look for a follow up article soon.
Next, I was so happy to see the Marvelous Mutts Canine Spectacular!
The Marvelous Mutts, A Canine Spectacular, is an amazing dog sport entertainment show that showcases some of the world’s finest canine athletes. The dogs flip and fly to catch flying discs,, race through agility courses at breathtaking speeds, and launch themselves off a dock into water. What is even more Marvelous is that they are all shelter rescued dogs who have been given a second chance. They prove that with positive training- Rescue Dogs Really Rock! We hope to feature them in our upcoming TV episodes “Fit Dogs Rock!” and “Rescues Rock!”
Here are some of the gorgeous pups I met at the show including several from Rescue organizations:
