Pomeranian
Pomeranians, or Poms, are Toy breeds from the Spitz family that originally descended from Icelandic sled dogs. They became popularized when Queen Victoria fell in love with the breed while holidaying in Florence. After her trip she actively developed the Pomeranian to its current diminutive size back in England.
Pomeranians come in a variety of colours and have a soft, fluffy undercoat with a long, straight overcoat, which requires daily brushing. One must also be careful with this breed’s knees and hips which are prone to injury. Pomeranians can make great companions and stellar show dogs with proper training. Their outgoing, cheerful and affectionate personalities combined with natural skill at agility and to learn tricks can make this breed a star performer. Although, they tend to be quite vocal. Pet families should be careful with Poms around young children to make sure play isn’t too rough.
Proper socialization and training makes the Pom a suitable family dog.
