United By A Love of Pets
As I walked around Canadian Pet Expo yesterday, it struck me how much love and positive energy was around me.
We were all brought together by a common interest in pets and their well-being. There was lots of Holiday Shopping to do, Photos to take, Shows to Watch, Things to Learn and People and Dogs to Socialize with.
There was a chihuahua playing kissy face with a large labrador mix. Size, shape, breed and colour didn’t seem to really matter much, as long as there was mutual respect and basic rules were followed.
Smiley the Blind Therapy Dog
I watched people of all ages petting Smiley the Blind Therapy Dog and other dogs. They were smiling.
Beautiful blind Golden Retriever Smiley spreads hope and love to anyone he meets. He was born without eyes and lived in a puppy mill for two years before being rescued. When Joanne rescued Smiley he was a timid and destructive dog. But with lots of love and training Smiley now works as a “certified child-tested therapy dog” for St John Ambulance! Currently he’s 12 years old and living happily in Canada with his human family. It was so great to see our old friend at the Expo.

Other Pets
I also saw people getting enormous joy from other pets including cats, snakes, lizards and even a pig and a spider.
Kids and Pets
I watched a smiling little girl win the art contest and was reminded that pets can help children learn empathy and responsibility.
Puppy Love
Who could not feel good about life looking at a Puppy Face?
Be Generous, Help Others
I watched the organizers donate over $2,000 from the day to Don Cherry Pet Rescue Foundation and another Rescue Organization.
I loved this Christmas tree decorated with photos of all the successful matches at this Rescue Booth.
Tiffany the Pom
I watched adorable, incredibly cool Tiffany the Pom MC with Santa then return and snuggle her Dad happily next to me- I smiled.
Live life well
As we approach Thanksgiving in the US, let’s all be thankful for our pets and our families. Let’s try to see the good in life and make the most of it.

Awww, we lost our beloved Little Bit a month ago. Our hearts are so very heavy. We loved her so. She was a few days shy of 13. A good long life, but it was hard to let her go.
Have a woof woof Awww Monday. ☺

I’m sorry for your loss. Thirteen years of a good long life with a loving family is definitely the silver lining and your happy moments together are what should be remembered. Losing a pet is hard, these books and articles really helped me when I lost my family dog, Coco. I hope they help you with your healing process.
