Family Fun With Your Dog
Dog Lovers Days
What a blast we had at Dog Lovers Days on Saturday. It was the first of 28 shows they will be doing across Canada this year. Organizer Mark Gross started Dog Lovers Days last year to meet a need for the growing number of people who consider their dog family and want to include them in weekend fun. He was kind enough to invite us to attend and support us filming some great footage.
Each festival features vendors, live demos and booths that entertain the whole family and celebrate your dog! You can let your dog have some fun on the Lure Course, play in the Doggie Play Zone, or visit a Holistic Healer at the Health and Wellness Centre.
Lure Course
We had such a great time watching the popular lure course with a little agility. It was really inspiring to see all the family dogs of different breeds having so much fun on the course. For many, it was their first time even on an agility course or trying to catch a lure. The owners really seemed to love watching their dog have fun and the audience was really encouraging. The dogs go so fast, I never seem to get a great photo but luckily Freeze Frame Photo are there taking amazing shots. We did get some fantastic video and are just editing now.
Interactive Activities and Contests For the Family Dog Where Everyone is a Winner
The wiener races are always popular and entertaining. Everyone at Dog Lovers Days goes home with a prize like delicious Barnsdale Farms Treats for competing.
The Best Dressed Contest brought out some fabulous dogs and creative costumes, many of them handmade. See more costumes below and in videos to come. There was also a Talent Show and Play Sessions.
Our pal Amber of Amber’s Barkery was baking fresh peanut butter treats throughout the day that smelled amazing.
We also chatted about the benefits of a raw diet and looked at the wide range of dehydrated treats at NatuRAWls booth.
We’ll be putting up full interviews with several vendors and more photos too.
Handmade in the Hammer was kind enough to give Kilo and Beau each one of their adorable bow ties, as well as Lottie and Grizzly. We loved their wide range of bow ties, neck ties and flowers to accessorize your dog with. There are so many colours and patterns your dog could have one for every occasion! I plan on getting more of these red and white Canadian ones as they will make great gifts when I travel.
Taylor gave three amazing performances with viral video stars, Lottie the Collie and her German Shepherd Rescue Dog Grizzly. Having the dogs perform and do tricks together was really neat and the crowd loved it. After each show, Taylor chatted, offered her training tips and took photos with fans and the dogs.
If Dog Lovers Days is stopping in a city near you, we strongly encourage you to bring your family and dog out. It’s a great way to spend some quality family time and celebrate your dog.

What a great opportunity for dog families and vendors to get together and everyone to have a lot of fun. I hope Dog Lovers Days gets to California.

Me too- I’d come. I’ve been looking for an excuse. In fact I’ll probably come in June for a wedding and to follow up on my movie.
