If you have experienced the loss of your animal or are anticipating the loss of your animal, know that you are not alone in the grief that you are feeling. The purpose of this group is to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone’s grief matters. Participants will have an opportunity to express their loss and share memories of their companions.

HBSPCA Junior Humane Program
6:00 pm to 7:15 pm

Benefiting: Children & Families
Junior Humane is a great way for children to start learning about the SPCA and animal care in a fun and educational setting. There are three different exciting sessions for each age group, allowing children to get more in-depth knowledge of all the animals we help at the SPCA. Enjoy animal interaction, guest speakers, guest animals, crafts, movies, and games – what a great way to learn!
The focus is always on teaching respect and compassion for all living things. Children learn practical pet knowledge and ownership responsibility.
Session details: Ages 7-9: Meet Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:15pm Fall 2015: Oct. 12th – Nov. 16th

Principles of Pet Care

Two 45-minute talks followed by 15-minute Q&A each evening. If you’ve ever wondered about what it takes to become a veterinarian, or how to help your pet lose weight, you won’t want to miss this exciting lecture series. Experts will cover topics ranging from safe and effective strategies for pet weight loss, how to care for a pet with arthritis, and pet rehabilitation to the process of getting into vet school and how to become a successful veterinarian. Dr. Tiffany Durzi, Dr. Scott Bainbridge, Stacey Kew, and Dr. Robert Berger will be here at PawsWay to help you nurture your passion for pet care.
BarktoberFest
This event will be a great opportunity for T.E.A.M. alumni to reunite, and to meet the group of ladies that work behind the scenes finding precious pups their furever home. We encourage all fosters, volunteers, and dog lovers, along with their favourite four-legged friends to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of fall activities including photoshoot, bake sale, silent auction, face painting, and more. Bring your mat to participate in a relaxing yoga class among the beautiful colours of fall. Dress your favourite pup in their best costume to have their chance to win the dog costume competition.

The dog meat trade in Asia condemns millions of dogs to death every year in the most horrific and inhumane ways possible.

Cause 4 Canines is holding their first charity event to help raise funds and awareness in support of these incredible foundations. The ticket price includes hors d’oeuvres, beer tasting, and a free drink (then cash bar). The evening will include a live and silent auction, 50/50 draw and other opportunities to contribute to this great cause.
4th Annual Spooktacular Dog Walk
6:30pm to 9:00pm
Admission: Free
The evening will begin at 6:30pm at Liberty Village Park with a costume contest followed by a walk around Liberty Village. This is a dress-up event – now’s your chance to get your doggie in the Halloween spirit. Costumes are not required but are highly suggested – wouldn’t want to be the “odd dog out”! Prizes for best costumes will be provided by Treats Happen and Da Code A Bags. In need of a costume? Global Pet Foods Liberty Village has them! Mention you will be taking part in the Spooktacular Dog Walk and get 10% off! Coffee will be provided by Ciao Europa Cafe. Bring all the furry and non-furry friends you want – let’s make this the best Spooktacular Dog Walk yet!

Annual Halloween Party

Join us for a spooky celebration at our howling Halloween party. Games, prizes and family fun for both people and dogs! Bring your camera and take photos of you and your furry friend at our Halloween-themed photo booth. Get creative with the kids at our arts and crafts table. Free drop-in activities will be offered from 1:30pm onward; contests and costume parade start at 3pm. Bring your cat or dog in costume for a chance to win a prize!
