Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Who wants Cupcakes?
It’s that time of year again when whether you’re Irish or not, it’s time to celebrate “The Feast of Saint Patrick” by sharing a few drinks, and maybe forgetting not only where you come from but also where you’re going! March 17th is the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.
Kilo the Pug, however, simply takes any opportunity for treats and good eats. We celebrated with Kilo this year by putting together this little shoot with him and a St. Patricks day themed DIY treat jar. Enjoy!
Celebrate with Saint Patty’s day Dog-Friendly Pupcakes!
Kilo loves cupcakes or ‘pupcakes’ and I thought it would be a nice treat for him to have since he won’t be enjoying any green beer or Irish Whiskey this year! They’re made with his favourite food too, peanut butter, but no added sugar!
Peanut Butter Pumpkin Cupcake Recipe
Cup Cake Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
- 1/2 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 cup of flour (any type)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- small chunk of butter melted (1-2 tablespoons)
- 1/2 cup of water
Icing Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons natural greek yoghurt
- 2 tablespoons of light cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon of blended greens for colour (I used broccoli, kale, and zucchini and you can add more to make greener or choose to use food colouring)
Baking Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350′ F
- Grease tray (I used coconut oil spray and oven proof silicon trays)
- Mix ingredients in a bowl with a mixer or a fork until smooth (a mixer is probably better, but I just used elbow grease and a fork)
- Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean
- Set for 10 mins to cool then pop out and put in paper cups and decorate
- Store the leftovers in the fridge or freezer.
Enjoy – Happy St. Patrick’s day! As you can tell Kilo LOVED these pupcakes, especially the icing.

Lucky Kilo! The recipe sounds delicious, I’m going to add it to my list of dog treat recipes. Hubby has been buying Jack some less than healthy treats lately and I’m not happy about that. Time to get out the cupcake tin!!

Kilo is one lucky pup! Those pupcakes are so cool. I can see them being adapted to many other occasions as well. We watched a fun movie with our kitties on St. Patrick’s Day until it was time to get some designated driving done. 🙂

Cool cupcake recipe! I especially like that you came up with an icing recipe as well. And if you use a wheat-free flour you don’t have to make any measurement adjustments?
Talent Hounds says
Thanks so much Christie. I often use rice flour or other gluten-free options as my daughters do not tolerate gluten. I do not usually adjust the measurements but I have to say – Kilo the Pug is easy to please- he LOVED these and I liked them but not sure my daughters did quite as much. Some of my cupcake and cookie recipes are a little heavy or bland compared to other super delicious 100% human ones as I don’t usually use much butter or sugar etc. So great seeing you again at Global.
