Nothing puts me in the mood for romance more than love songs (plus good food and red wine).
Music can capture our emotions and make us feel good. When we satisfy our desire to eat, to sleep, or reproduce, our brain releases dopamine–the “feel good” neurochemical involved when we experience pleasure and reward. Turns out this same chemical is released when listening to music. Using magnetic resonance imaging they showed that people listening to pleasurable music had activated brain regions which are connected to euphoric reward responses, like those we experience from sex, good food and addictive drugs.
Songs are a great way to express your love when you may be at a loss for words. Music also captures memories (like scents do). Music can help intensify all those dizzying sensations of being in love or remind us of loved ones, present and past. Humans and animals can share an incredible bond. Your dog may be your best friend and your love for each other unconditional.
Here are a few love songs to make any dog-lover’s heart sing for Valentine’s. Your dog may just love them too so snuggle up and listen. Scroll down for the classics.
10 Top Love Songs for Valentine’s.
We are biased but the #1 Valentine’s Day Love Song for dog lovers has to be our original new song “Forever” – dogs seem to love the song too based on the videos people have been sending us and Kilo the Pug’s reaction. This video is sweeter than any Valentine’s Day candy!
Please watch on YouTube, comment, subscribe and share so we can all spread awareness and love for rescues, past and present. Let me know in comments if you have a rescue you would like featured in our next version of the song.

Number 2 has to be has to be our original song “My Dog”, composed and performed by the talented Kurt Swinghammer for the original Talent Hounds Documentary.
The title “Martha My Dear” was inspired by McCartney’s Old English Sheepdog, named Martha. McCartney has said that the song itself is probably about his longtime love interest Jane Asher.
A Cat Stevens classic!
My favorite love song from the Body Guard “I will always love you” sung by Whitney Houston – I heard her sing it live right next to me, a cappella, on a stage in the mountains of Chile many years ago during the soundcheck for her concert (I used to be in the music business). What a voice! I still get goosebumps.

My personal other favorite Love Song from Titanic “My heart will go on” sung by Canadian Celine Dion (we used a cover of the track for our tribute to Bocker Labradoodle)
I love this song “Go where love goes” written by my old boss Jack Lenz and performed by the amazing, lovely Holly Stell, who did charity work with my daughters and I, and of course the incredibly talented Andrea Bocelli.
Plus who could forget “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers.
How about Elvis and “Love Me Tender”.

And Stevie Wonder “I just called to say I love you.”

What a selection. I love some of these and others I need to go and listen too because I have not heard them in a long time.
Having a special song for animals is I think one of the key things to making messages stick. Helen Woodward have one (and one of the few pop songs I have bought I’m a classical person mostly). A good song like this tugs the heart strings and gets the message of love across loud and clear. * grabs tissue *

Although I don’t have the same taste in music I can agree that music is by far the greatest of romantic offerings.

Love your song “Forever”.. it’s so sweet. Brought a tear to my eye as I watched the video. We have 4 rescue pups and a rescue cat. They definitely rescued us just as much as we them. Also, I have totally sang that Whitney Houston song to my dogs before… LOL

WOW now I feel old when I think back on those songs. Layla and I listen to Jazz all the time in my house, it keeps me relaxed and we have the wonderful Jazz station so it just goes and goes and goes.

I really liked the one from the Titanic. It’s been a long time since I saw that movie. I also liked Forever about the shelter dogs. I listened to many of them.

In my opinion, Valentine’s Day is about celebrating those you love. I’m glad to see some dog-centric song included in your mix. I loved seeing Kilo and all the other dogs in the first video.

My favorite of the well known ones is definitely My Heart Will Go On. I love Titanic and watch it every time I find it on television! Your original song is so beautiful – thanks for sharing it with us.

The new song “Forever” is really nice. You have several of my favorites listed. I think Whitney Houston’s I’ll Always Love You is the best
