DIY Delicious Chicken Coconut Cupcake Recipe for Dogs
Kilo the Pug Loves These Yummy Pupcakes
Kilo the Pug’s Birthday is coming up soon, so I have been experimenting with recipes for his Cake and Treats.
I had some leftover frozen chicken mixture from the chicken ice treats and stew I made last week, so I decided to drain off the stock and use it as a base for this Chicken Coconut Cupcake Recipe for Dogs. I had bought some coconut oil and desiccated coconut as I had been reading about the benefits of coconut for dogs and I thought Kilo would like the taste.
Ingredients
2 table spoons of rolled oats
2 table spoons of desiccated or shredded coconut
1 small moist cooked chicken breast, plus a few pieces of moist cooked spinach and baby kale (from chicken stew – see previous recipe here)
1 egg
1 teaspoon of peanut butter
Recipe Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 375′
- Put all ingredients into blender and blend until thoroughly mixed and chicken shredded (you can make as smooth as you like -I left it a little chunky)
- Pour or spoon mix, which is a thick goopy liquid, into a baking tray
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until firm and brown on top (I actually forgot mine in the oven so I over did them slightly- they were still delicious)
- I left them to cool in the tray then popped the 6 Pupcakes out onto a plate in paper cups (I scooped under them with a spoon and they came out nicely).
Kilo absolutely loved them. He ate one, then I stored the rest in a plastic container in the fridge. They worked well for training for a few days, as they broke up into small bits.
They smelled so good that I tried one, my daughter also wanted a bite (she liked that they were gluten free).
The flavour was a bit weird as a mix of savoury and sweet.
Happy Tasty Tuesday. Check out other yummy dog treats from our friends below. Sugar has some delicious fruity fozen recipes today.

What a great recipe! I would have to substitute the chicken, but I can use this.

Thanks- I am experimenting substituting sweet potato and also banana. Kilo loves those. Any meat or fish should work too. Tuna or salmon cakes could be yummy
