Poodle
The Poodle has been known in Russia and Germany since the early 16th century. The breed is related to the Portuguese Water Dog and Irish Water Spaniel, and its first job was to retrieve waterfowl. In France, the Poodle was used to scent out truffles.
Poodles come in three sizes: Standard, Miniature and Toy. They are bright, energetic and spirited companions who have a history as performers. Poodles have an unusual single layer coat of dense, curly hair that does not shed, but will become matted if not properly groomed. Poodles are groomed in a variety of styles, and come in a range of solid-coloured and parti-coloured coats. Their pom poms aid in keeping their joints and chest warm.
Active and elegant, Standard Poodles are extremely intelligent and can make great hunting dogs. Mischievous by nature, poodles can get easily bored if left to their own devices. Proper mental and physical stimulation is advised for pet parents.
