Woofstock is an amazing weekend full of fun for dogs and dog lovers. It takes place in Woodbine Park near the Toronto Beaches at the start of summer each year.
The weather was beautiful. Walking around to see all the vendors and events was quite a workout.
Our two favorite activities were the unique Dog Lovers Days family dog lure courses and the hilarious Wiener and Pug races.
This fit dog Friday we celebrate activities that encourage both mental and physical fitness for dogs and fun for the family!
Dogs Love Dog Lovers Days Lure Agility
Dog Lovers Days have created an accessible, portable Dog Lure Course with an agility tunnel and 2 little jumps, designed for the family dog to enjoy.
They set up 2 main courses at Woofstock and there were enthusiastic line-ups all day, both days. The courses were great fun and good exercise for hundreds of dogs and owners.
Most of the dogs seemed to absolutely love chasing the plastic lure around the winding path like a squirrel. Some dogs that had done agility quickly jumped the little jumps and raced through the tunnel after the lure. Others bypassed them and stuck to the lure.
It was inspiring to see such a wide variety of breeds and people participating in the event. There were some very passionate (and vocal) fans.
It was great entertainment for the participants and the audience.
The Running Of The Pugs
Who could resist The Running Of The Pugs? We are a little biased of course (We love pugs especially Kilo the Pug), but we couldn’t get enough of all the adorable pugs who attended.
They held a number of heats then a final race. The races were chaos of course and so much fun. Enjoy these pug athletes! I think Tyson won.
So great to see our pal Fishstick the Rockin’ Rescue and dad Tim at the race. Check out his matching pug t-shirt from PugALug Pug Rescue (I have one in black for Kilo)!
Wiener Dog Races
We love Wiener Dogs AKA Dachshunds as they are a smart, fun, loyal, cute looking breed of dog.
See our post on Everything You Need to Know About Dachshunds Here.
Their races drew a huge crowd of fans and was nearly as chaotic as the pugs.
This weekend, Kilo and I will be doing strength training, hiking around the hills in the ravine and playing outside.
I’m sure Cookie would LOVE lure coursing. For now, we don’t have a place to set it up safely. But working on it and as soon as we do we’re going to try.
What a fun event.
Looks like loads of fun!
LOL! Running of the pugs, that is hilarious! What a super fun event with lots of fun exercise for the pups! Bailie would be into an event like that.
What fun! It is always fun to see different breeds doing the Lure Course. The Dog Races are entertaining to watch too.
Looks like fun! Earl and Ethel would probably enjoy lure coursing.
That looks like so much fun. I bet Penny would enjoy it!
Mr. N loves lure coursing! It’s sad that there’s no breed races for Yorkies or Maltese. Mr. N would be very good at it.
My dogs love lure courses. Looks like you had a fun time!
This really looks like fun! I bet the dogs just love it too. What a fun and exciting way to stay fit and trim!
This looks like a super fun event! I love it when there are dog events that include a lot of activities!
This sounds like an awesome event! Lets put it on our doggy bucket list. Great photos too!
What a fun event! I love the photo of the pug with a stuffed jockey on his back. It is great to see dogs having so much fun while getting exercise.
I know- so cute. He did surprisingly well in the race too.
I think Woofstock should be held in cities across America too. It looks so fun. I would be giddy watching a Pug race! We went to our local Weiner Dog races at The horse track a few weeks ago. It was hilarious!
I agree- the races are so funny and fun
What a fun day! Cosmo had the chance to try one of those lure agility courses years ago and he had a blast! We haven’t seen one around here in ages so Rocco’s never seen one, but he has been on a full sized lure course and loved it!
Come up and visit next year- Woofstock is so much fun.
Love watching dogs doing lure coursing. I reckon the cat’s would love to give it a try too.
I think my cat Nala would have loved it (minus all the dogs)- she was a stealthy chaser
Woofstock sounds like a great event with opportunities for all dogs to join in on the fun!
Looks like a fabulous day! I was loving all the photos, when I came across the Running of the Pugs I felt a little jealous!
Both of our pups would have loved the lure coursing – they are all about chasing fast, small things 😉
What a fun day! Of course we love the Weiner dog races too but the pugs put in a good try! Love Dolly
This looks so much fun! And the pug with the jockey is too cute!
What a super fun event! I love the doggie races, especially the Running of the Pugs LOL! Great photos, thanks for sharing.
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Finn would LOVE to take part in this!
What a wonderful day for the dogs and their people
