Mega Pet Adoption Was A Mega Success For Rescues
How inspiring! The 3rd Annual Mega Pet Adoption Event was a success as hundreds of rescue animals found their forever homes.
There was a line-up of nearly 400 people as people eagerly awaited entry into event on Friday. Hosted by the Toronto Humane Society and Toronto Animal Services, the event took place July 8-9 at the Queen Elizabeth Building at Exhibition Place in Toronto. Adoption fees were just $25. Each animal up for adoption was spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. It had also been assessed to make sure it was ready for adoption and that any potential adopters could make an informed decision.
The event was such a success that after the first day, over 200 rescue animals had already found their forever homes.
We were thrilled to hear that the first dog adopted was a lovely senior. Seniors so often get overlooked but can make great matches for the right families.
It was so inspiring to see so many hopeful people looking to adopt a new friend into their family and so many animal welfare organizations participating from across Ontario and Quebec.
“Initiatives such as this have a large impact on the homeless animal population in our community. The City of Toronto is very excited to partner and co-host this great event for a third year,” said Elizabeth Glibbery, Manager, Toronto Animal Services.

Organizations included The Toronto Humane Society, Toronto Animal Services, London Animal Care Centre and The Ontario SPCA.
“Each year more than 15,000 animals enter GTA shelters. During these two days we hope to find hundreds of them new forever homes. Anyone who is considering adding a pet to their family should join us and see for themselves the amazing animals available for adoption,” said Barbara Steinhoff, Executive Director, Toronto Humane Society.
At Talent Hounds, we encourage fostering and adoption. We believe rescues rock and can make great family pets. On our team, I have adopted Kilo the Pug, Aria has adopted Beau the Frenchie and Nina has adopted Rocky the Rescue since starting the Talent Hounds project.
I heard about the BISSELL Pet Foundation‘s great initiatives at this year’s Blog Paws Conference and was pleased to see BISSELL helping out our local cause. They provided take-home goodie bags for new pet parents that were stocked with great products to help make a smooth transition from shelter to forever home.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the event and adopted a rescue. Thanks to the sponsors and all the organizations that participated.
