NYS Animal Advocacy Day 2014
We had the privilege of attending with our friends Marie and Bocker Labradoodle– see their post HERE. We met other friends there including Hudson the Railroad Puppy and family. It was a very inspiring day.
NYS Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (see his blog post on the event HERE) and Senator Greg Ball (seen with dog Tito below) sponsored NYS Animal Advocacy Day, a bi-partisan event bringing members of the NYS Assembly and Senate as well as animal advocates together to help further protect our companion pets from cruelty, stop puppy mills and strengthen Buster’s Law. The event was emceed by animal advocate Steve Caporizzo from Pet Connection and featured Richard and Rosemarie Nash and Hudson, one of the Railroad Puppies that was nailed to railroad tracks in Albany, John Hargrove, a former SeaWorld Killer Whale trainer featured in the acclaimed documentary “Blackfish,” Yakkul, a white puppy from Afghanistan, that was adopted by a U.S. Special Forces officer , Nimee, a disabled dog that uses a wheelchair to get around, Saratoga Springs philanthropist , animal advocate, Michele Riggi and her dog, Queenie, a devocalized rescue dog, and our friend celebrity Therapy Dog and Media Star Bocker the Labradoodle. Other guests included Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney, who prosecuted the original case that inspired the passage of Buster’s animal cruelty felony law, and Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo and two K-9 units, Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin and cute little Batman the Boston Terrier Puppy and many more supporters, dogs, rescues and advocates.
