This Thankful Thursday we are spotlighting the amazing work the Canadian Dachshund Rescue of Ontario has accomplished since beginning in 2001!
A CDR volunteer and golden dachshund
We first met the Canadian Dachshund Rescue group at Pawsway’s Rescue Me Weekend Event and couldn’t get enough of the adorable and adoptable dachshunds available. Watch our video recap of the event HERE!
The CDR is a volunteer driven organization dedicated to saving and rehoming abandoned, neglected, and unwanted dachshund and dachshund mixes throughout Ontario. The rescue works closely with local, national and international animal welfare organizations, to provide care for wieners that are in distress, suffering abuse, abandoned or homeless. To date CDR has saved the lives of almost 1,000 wieners from abuse and euthanasia. This far-reaching group strives to ensure that no dachshund in Canada is left behind.

Don’t miss Talent Hounds and the CDR at London Ontario’s Pawlooza on August 17th for some fun outdoors!
Our Adoptable Dog of the Day is the adorable Hugo!
This handsome boy who his foster mom & dad like to affectionately call Hewy, is a 6yr old red short-hair small standard dachshund. He came to CDR all the way from ‘La Belle Province’!
He loves walks, playing ball – he’ll fetch for hours, food and cuddles. Hugos a very happy boy with a constant wagging tail and cheery attitude. He loves people and takes any chance to shower them with love & kisses. His foster mom says he gets along well with adults, kids, other dogs and yes, even cats!
If you love to snuggle and have room in your bed Hugo would love to join!

Karen Graham says
Could i get on your list of avaiable rescue/adoption puppies??
I am not ready now, my sweet springer is 14 & won’t bring a new baby into my family now.
I’m just looking into my future plans. I need a dog that is smaller, that i can easily walk & i would like a female.
Thank you. Could you please tell me where you are located? I live in the Belleville area.
